Delirium Tremens

Delirium Tremens

This beer was the beer that got me into craft beer. I remember back around 2000, when I first visited a Belgian beer bar over on West 4th street and I saw a lighted sign on the wall with 2 dancing pink elephants on it. Delirium Tremens was its name and I ordered one at the price of $9 for a 10 oz pour. Expensive stuff for someone right out of college, until I discovered that Mug’s Ale House in Williamsburg was selling the same beer for $4.50 a 12 oz glass. I’ll fully admit that at that price I ended up drinking way too much of it. This Belgian Golden Strong Ale is brewed by Brouwerij Huyghe and is at 8.5% ABV. Fruity and spicy with Belgian yeast flavors, this beer hides the alcohol well. I haven’t ordered one in years, but I saw it at a local bar (The Graham) and had to have one for old time’s sake since recently I have been studying Belgian beers. Cheers!
