January is flying by! Wasn’t it just New Years? Well at least there are some good beer events, and a beer release, to close out this cold and snowy month happening this week-end.
First up this Saturday January 30th is the Mug’s Ale House Mystery IPA event. Mug’s Ale House will be hosting this fun event for the 5th year in which attendees will get to blindly taste 13 different IPAs and then vote on which one they enjoyed the most. The IPA that gets the most votes will have a dedicate tap at Mug’s for the next six months. Last year Blue Point Mosaic and AleSmith IPA tied for 1st place. This is a great event to test out your palate since none of the taps have the beer name on them. Tickets are $35 and available online. Starts at Noon and goes until 3 pm. Here’s my article about last year’s event.
Second up this Saturday January 30th is Other Half Brewing’s Second Anniversary event. So to celebrate their anniversary, Other Half will be releasing three cans this week-end.
Along side the classic Hop Showers IPA, two new beers will be making their debut: The 2nd Anniversary Imperial IPA and a collaboration with Burial Beer called Diamond Mausoleum. Here is Other Half’s description of both:
“We will have our 2nd Anniversary Imperial IPA, this is one of the hoppiest fruit bomb’s we’ve made to date with Citra, Galaxy, Wai-iti and Kohatu hops clocking in at 9% … We will also have our collaboration with the ever awesome @burialbeer Diamond Mausoleum, a cascadian dark ale that is aggressively hopped with Centennial, Amarillo and Waimea and is 7.5%.”
Both of these new beers will be very limited. Customers will be allowed only three 4pks of the 2nd Anniv. IPA ($20 each) and two 4pks of the Diamond Mausoleum ($16 each). Full cases (six 4pks) of Hop Showers will be available ($16 per 4pk). The tap room will be opening up early at 10 am for the release.
So close out this January will two great beer events. I will be at both, so say hello! Cheers!
